Beckwood Pond "An English Inn in the Vermont Countryside"
We share our past history and Proudly Present a Selection of Today's Finest Accommodation Offerings in England, Wales, New England & other East Coast & Southern American States
In 1803, Asahel Webster, whose ancestors moved to America from Warwickshire, England, built a rambling Colonial Home for his large family in Southern Vermont. Asahel moved north to Vermont from Connecticut where one of his ancestors, John Webster, had been the fifth governor of Connecticut Colony. In 1999, our family returned to America from England and purchased that property which would become our own English Inn in Vermont while our daughter, Morgan, attended Vassar College. It seemed quite fitting that Alan, an Englishman and Heléne, born in Connecticut, should discover this extraordinary property that would welcome visitors from countries around the world. We created the name Beckwood Pond Inn to honour the stream, woodlands and the pond on our grounds. It is of note that in America, the words Inn and bed and breakfast are often used interchangeably. The word "inn" does not mean that meals other than breakfast are served or indeed, that food and drink are available other than in the morning to resident guests. Just as many of our members listed below, we did, however, take advantage of the size of our large home and extensive tiered gardens and grounds to offer intimate wedding ceremonies, civil unions and other celebratory events. Guests delighted in the afternoon teas and complimentary local wine, cheeses and homemade cakes, biscuits and sweets that were always on offer. A large platter of homebaked cookies always awaited guests upon their return. Visit our members' listings and learn about all of their unique offerings.
Any innkeeper will tell you that you must learn to expect the unexpected! To learn about one of the times we were caught off guard, please read: One snowy winter morning.

Brook Farm Cottages
Brook Farm offers four unique self contained cottages set in the heart of the Test Valley. The cottages adjoin Brook Farm House, the Grade II 16th Century farm house of Anthony and Sarah de Sigley. The luxurious cottages, lovingly created from the restoration and conversion of one of the barns, have been designed to create a rural, intimate environment offering a country style home from home. A secluded courtyard has been transformed from the original farmyard.
The cottage names, King Aelfred, John O’Gaunt, Elizabeth Ryprose and Princess Aelflaed (Elfleda), reflect the very special local character of the cottages and the beautiful and historic area in which they are set.
Tastefully furnished in a simple, country style and adorned with original works of art, the cottages also offer beamed ceilings, stone, oak and terracotta floors. Intended primarily for use by adults seeking a place to relax and unwind, children and pets may be accommodated by prior arrangement only.

Organic Holidays In The UK and Abroad
Linda Moss offers a diverse worldwide selection of unique accommodations and locations to choose from on her website directory. You can select a bed and breakfast accommodation in countries from Argentina to the U.S.A., with an extensive listing to choose from in all areas of Britain. The one vital element all share in common? Each is 'organic', requiring that meals are prepared using local organic produce whenever possible.
Many of the accommodations are 100% organic; on average they are at least 50% organic which Linda requires to be featured on her extensive site. Around two thirds of the places listed offer meals, usually breakfast, but lunches and evening meals are often available as well.
Quite a few of the owners grow their own produce, some use wild or natural foods, and most will aim to use fresh local produce rather than imported food.
Seeking a self-catering option? The directory provides numerous offerings on organic farms or smallholdings. Here you will have the independence to ask information from the farmer and other locals about the availability of local organic food and also make your own discoveries as you explore the area. You will often be able to buy ingredients for your meals from the farm's own organic produce, have an organic vegetable box delivered, or find organic produce in the local area.
Discover the joys of fresh local produce and specialities, slow food, home baking and cooking with new discoveries, homemade products such as jam, juice, ice cream, yogurt, cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, olive oil, wine - you'll find all these and more ...... Why limit your organic and local food experiences to your own town or village when this directory enables you to expand your horizons and excite your taste buds wherever your travels take you!
Prefer staying at a Country Inn or Small Hotel when you are away from home? Please note that this directory is also featured in that category as many of the directory listings offer this type of accommodation. You will also find Linda’s Organic Holidays Directory on: http://www.organicplacestostay.com (Note: Property featured is one of the Self-Catering offerings in Derbyshire, England.)

‘I have had a lovely week. I liked seeing the lambs best. In the morning I went to see the cows being milked. When we went to the sheep I loved splashing in the mud. I loved staying in the cottage.’

Rose Hill Bed and Breakfast
Rose Hill was built in 1910 on part of an old farming tract belonging to the Gish family. The original Gish farmhouse still stands sentinel for Highland Park and houses the neighborhood’s historic preservation group serving the surrounding Old Southwest Historic District. Wendy Blair bought this very special but sadly neglected property in January of 2006 and spent sixteen months restoring it to its original glory.
There are three exquisite guest rooms to choose from: The Peacock offers mystery, extravagance and a step stool to help you reach the high, four-poster queen-size bed; The Garden Room places you within your own private English garden and The Garbo Room, reminiscent of the grand hotels of yesteryear, beckons you to experience its English antique bed, or relax in the huge adjoining private bath that offers a claw-foot tub and fainting couch.
Located in the South Shenandoah Valley Region of Virginia, visitors are spoiled with choices when it comes to deciding what to do. There are farmer’s markets and historic sites to explore, museums, theaters and of course, the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains. For those looking to escape the stresses of everyday life, take advantage of the extensive library, have a massage in your room, relax on the porch swing with that book you have been longing to read or simply delight in the unforgettable breakfast, and just sit calmly enjoying the historic charms of Rose Hill until it is time for Afternoon Tea and Hors d’oeuvres ~ not forgetting the homemade chocolates each evening.

The Mill at Lloyney - Wales
There has been a mill on this site for approximately 400 years, although the building was converted to its current residential use in the 1970s by the Davies family, many of whom still live very locally and farm the fields surrounding The Mill.
Lloyney is a small hamlet on a very quiet road in the Welsh Marches, surrounded by open moorland, deep valleys, interesting small towns and many fascinating castles. Lloyney is situated in the lovely, peaceful Teme Valley. The River Teme, which is the border between Wales and England, is about 100 yards from the Mill, and is the nearest river now that the Mill leat has been filled in. Lloyney is approximately 3 miles from Knighton.
We try to use locally sourced and produced food at The Mill wherever possible, both because it tastes good and because we are trying to live in a sustainable manner. We grow our own organic vegetables and fruit, and make use of them wherever we can.
Our area is perfect for those who enjoy wildlife and nature and the feel of the earth beneath their feet. We offer bed and breakfast (and evening meals on Mondays), in 4 rooms, and can provide packed lunches and personalised travel with prior notice, including free pick up services to and from the railway station at Knucklas.
Please access our website link for full details about our unique and diverse offerings.

Topside Inn Bed & Breakfast
The Topside Inn sits on a hilltop overlooking beautiful Boothbay Harbor in the midcoast region of Maine. Operating for more than 75 years, there are 21 guest rooms spread among three buildings which include the main house (circa 1864) and two summer guesthouses. Long ago, this location provided the owners with views over the shipyards and harbor activity. Today the scenery includes sailing boats, motor yachts, and a small working fishing fleet.
The inn’s guestrooms offer varying views of the water - the inner harbor to the east, islands, two lighthouses and out to sea looking south, and the west harbor. All rooms include private in-suite baths, cable TV, and dial-out telephone with free local calls. Wireless internet access is available in public areas for laptop users. The Inn has a complete non-smoking policy.
While the harbor comes to life, a delicious full breakfast starts the day on the porch or in the dining room. Guests are welcome to relax by the living room fireplace, enjoy a book or magazine, games and puzzles, review restaurant menus or plan their next adventure. Sailing, whale watching, fishing are all just steps away in the village, along with art galleries and shopping.
